At one end of the health career training spectrum are those jobs that only require certificates or associate's degrees. From nursing to massage therapy to technician, you can acquire the requisite skills and training within twelve to twenty-four months. More specialized positions such as social workers and therapists typically require four years of career training at the bachelor's level. Specialists charged with diagnosing and treating often require graduate training via master's degrees or specialized professional diplomas (for example, doctors, surgeons, optometrists). Other tangential careers are focused on administration, policy, legislation, and regulations, from public health inspectors to hospital administrators to researchers. Bachelor's degrees for these administrative positions is sometimes sufficient, but for long-term career advancement, it's a good idea to obtain a master's degree or higher.
